Hi all,
A lot has happened since Mother's Day, the last post. I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence of breast cancer, had 2 months of radiation, and began chemotherapy treatments. Things are going very well and I'm back and on the mend which frees me up for GAVIN business. Also, a lot has happened at the store, besides our fabulous addition of Helmut Lang and Rag and Bone we have plenty of new designers to tempt you. Our new Rebecca Minkoff bags are to die for and the Fallon jewelry is a must have.
This season's trophy jackets look as good with skinny jeans as with an evening dress. Check out the Adrienne Landau fur jackets, or the Rag and Bone military looks. We're also obsessed with all of our LBD's, quite a great selection for your next dinner, cocktail, or black tie. The jewelry collection has never looked better thanks to our friends the Beamons and the Savitts and a designer we just picked up named Rachel Olesker whom we are just wild for. She will be showing her pieces at a trunk show on Nov. 11th. Don't miss it and of course bring the girls for a little Veuve and treats before going out. Thursdays are great for girls night out so look for more to come at Gavin.
One more thought. What is beautiful, more precisely since beauty can be a little boring, what do we imagine ourselves wearing to feel new and fresh? Let's face it, our perceptions of it are always changing. It's not so much that we are slaves to fashion, but our eye just shifts. That motorcycle jacket that looked so right last season just looks, well...dated. ( don't fret it will be back). Now we love a little jacket ala Chanel if your pocketbook affords or if not, what we suggest is a boucle that Kimberley Taylor is delivering for spring or a little grey Iro that we have in the shop right now. Throw on your old YSL necklaces and mom's pearls, a little pencil skirt, self tanner, a great pair of shoes, Zara has the best, and you won't break the bank. Beauty is individual, personal, emotional. If you can't leave your house without a a $1200 jacket you are so not getting it. Yes, clothes can be a type of armor but if cancer has taught me anything after two bouts with it, shed the armor, laugh loudly, compliment everybody, kiss your lover, and go buy a new lipstick. It will save you a lot of money! Glad to be back
Love,
Lauren
