Musical Style: Grimes

B Grimes is the alias of Claire Boucher. She calls herself a Montreal-based musician but was born in Vancouver. Her music blends contemporary instrumentation with classical vocal practices from around the world.

She recently released a split 12” with D’eon titled Darkbloom. In 2010 she released a cassette titled Geidi Primes and the full-length Halfaxa through Arbutus. In 2012, she will release Visions, a full-length which is being described as “post-internet” by Grimes herself.

On Darkbloom (2011), Grimes begins taking her first steps as a producer, bringing together the experimentation behind her early work and a cutting edge pop aesthetic.

We have been loving both her music and style, which can be categorized as grunge-inspired and edgy.

"I'll Get You" Classixx feat. Jeppe/ Kitsuné x The Cobrasnake EP

Previously known as Young Americans, Classixx is an American production and DJ duo, based in Los Angeles, composed of Michael David and Tyler Blake.

Blake and David were childhood friends. They began making music together in the suburbs of Los Angeles.

Unlike the banger-driven Electro music that had been dominating the dance floors, Classixx offers a smooth blend of disco, new wave, funk, house, and indie rock caught the ears of folks in the music world.
